Every year since 1990, the Pantone Color Institute, Sherwin-Williams Paints, and AkzoNobel Corporate have nominated a Color of the Year, forecasting which specific hue designers and consumers will all be using, decorating, and buying for the following 12 months. Let’s see what colors will be the rage for 2015 and how you can smoothly incorporate them into your home:
Pantone, the authority on color, announced that the 2015 Color of the Year is Marsala. Pantone described the color as “a naturally robust and earthy wine red.” This rich red tone “encourages creativity and innovation, enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability”. To create this sensuous feel in your own home, play with exotic patterns such as our Eastern Lattice Moroccan Stencil. Decorate with furniture pieces the color of aged wine that look worn and welcoming, inviting you to deep thought and passionate conversation.
According to Sherwin-Williams, the largest producer of paints in the United States, Coral Reef is “upbeat, optimistic, [and] celebrates a time for renewal.” Softer than orange and trendier than pink, Coral Reef colored décor comfortably blends both openness and energy within a room. Your 2015 room makeover should include patterns that are timeless yet fluid to accommodate this modern color. Any of our uplifting and vivacious Modern Stencils, like our Chevron Wall Stencil, would be perfect painted with this vibrant Color of the Year!
AkzoNobel, the largest global paints company, selected Copper Orange as its Color of the Year because ”it has a depth which combines perfectly with pinks, neutrals, whites and other orange hues, as well as metallic colors and wood tones.” If you have an appetite for natural and handcrafted materials, then your décor will shine when you pair this warmer tone with copper accent furniture and an elegant damask pattern, like our Fabric Damask Stencil.
Replacing the cool blues and greens of recent years, a warmer spectrum of pinks, reds and oranges is emerging in 2015, reflecting a dramatic and invigorating, yet comfortable space. These warm colors therefore work really well in the social rooms of your house, such as the living room, dining room and kitchen. Your family and friends will definitely ooh and awe at your new décor during your next get-together!
What do you think of these 3 Colors of the Year? Which is your favorite? If you can’t decide, it is so easy to use all three within your home! Marsala, Coral Reef, and Copper Orange work so well together and open up even more decorating possibilities!
