This Christmas, roll out the red carpet and bring holiday cheer to your doorstep with a fun and festive door mat. Here is a DIY idea for how to give your entry a refresh before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season begin. Psst… This also makes for a great DIY gift too!
- Moroccan Geometry Stencil by Royal Design Studio
- Noel Lettering Christmas Stencil by Jennifer Rizzo for Royal Design Studio
- Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®: Emperor’s Silk, Old White, and Amsterdam Green
- Royal Stencil Brushes: one large 3” and two small ¾”
- Painters tape and paper towels
- Plain door floor mat
Step 1: Pick your favorite stencil design from Royal Design Studio. We are using the Moroccan Geometry Stencil for this DIY project. Before stenciling your door floor mat, use painters tape to mask a horizontal stripe in the center that measures 4” high and goes from one end to the other.
Step 2: Load the large 3” stencil brush with Emperor’s Silk Chalk Paint and then offload the excess paint onto a paper towel. Once you stencil the design, follow the registration marks built into the stencil to move and align the next repeat. Once the floor mat is completely stenciled with the allover pattern, remove the painters tape.
Step 3: Center the Noel Lettering Stencil on the unpainted stripe and stencil the design with Old White and Amsterdam Green Chalk Paint. Use a different stencil brush for each paint color and make sure to offload the excess paint! Continue stenciling outwards to fill in the rest of the stripe.
