An autumn-themed pattern on a table runner adds a touch of elegance to your Fall home décor. However, finding one to match your style can often be a hassle. Our solution is as easy as it comes! Stencil your own and make your Thanksgiving decor a breeze! We chose a border stencil for our project, but any pattern, including an allover pattern from our Fall Stencils Collection would be just as pretty.
Time: Approximately 1 hour (The same time it would take to go shopping!)
- Royal Design Studio Stencil: Elegant Fruit Branch
- Royal Stencil Crème: Bright Gold and Antique Gold.
- Two 1” Stencil Brushes
- Painter’s Tape
- Table Runner
Step 1: Before stenciling your table runner tape along the runner’s seam to create a border for your stencil. If your table runner does not have a seam line you can position the tape about 1 ½” from the edge.
Step 2: This stencil has two layers and two sections. Totaling 4 pieces. Place Stencil A at one of the table runner and apply the Antique Gold Royal Stencil Cream with a 1” stencil brush. Remember to off load your brush on a piece of paper towel before stenciling on the fabric.
Step 3: This stencil has the registration marks outside the stencil design. We recommend you use a pen to mark your registration marks.
Step 4: Place the second layer of Stencil A on top of what you previously stenciled in Antique Gold. Make sure to match your registration marks. Then, stencil using the Bright Gold Royal Stencil Crème to complete the first set of leaves.
Step 5: Now place the first part of Stencil B on the registration marks from Stencil A and repeat steps 2, 3 & 4 with Stencil B.
Step 6: Once you are finished with the stencil, remove it and the tape around the edge.
Step 7: To finish the design and give it a more elegant touch, we recommend adding a border. To start, put place painter’s tape on top of the edge of your pattern. Make sure it is dry.
Step 8: Using the straight edge of a stencil, paint a border approximately 1/8” around the table runner. On the corners use a couple of pieces of tape to create a straight and clean edge.
Step 9: Remove the tape to reveal the finished product.
In less time than you would spend shopping, you can have your own one-of-a-kind table runner! That’s something to be grateful for this Thanksgiving!
