Summer is underway and it’s a great time for get-togethers, family parties, intimate gatherings and backyard barbecues. The kitchen is the central area of a home and many of us spend an extra amount of time there during the summer – as do our friends and family! Read on for Royal Design Studio inspiration, tips and techniques for a beautiful kitchen you’d be proud to show off this summer.
One of the top changes made during a kitchen renovation is the backsplash. Why not stencil it? The right stencil design adds much needed interest with pattern and color. This bright kitchen is sporting the striking Herringbone Pattern Furniture Stencil which is perfectly sized for stenciling backsplashes (and more!).
Memento Bracelet wanted a contemporary geometric pattern for their stenciled backsplash and chose the Hollywood Squares Stencil from the Allover Modern Stencils Collection. The Bronze Age Stencil Crème was used to stencil in the pattern. Looks fantastic!
The lovely Jeanette from Snazzy Little Things wanted a backsplash with a vintage look. She settled on the Springtime in Paris Letter Stencil. The French poem design over the metallic decorative wall finish is perfect for her kitchen. She shares, “I felt a zero-commit backsplash gave me the impact I wanted. And if I sell and the buyers don’t like it? They can tile over it.”
Shavonda of A Home Full of Color had a linoleum floor. Saving her money for a future floor installation, she quickly transformed the kitchen by painting and stenciling the linoleum floor. The Lisboa Tile Stencil from the Allover Ethnic Stencils Collection helped make a huge difference in her now-beautiful kitchen!
The Hollywood Squares stencil makes an engaging appearance again, but this time it is gracing a floor. (Stencils are SO versatile!) Tasha from Designer Trapped in a Lawyer’s Body made the perfect creative choice for her hip kitchen’s stenciled floor.
Instead of a floor rug that stains easily, consider a fast and easy stenciled floorcloth. They are beautiful, durable and clean quickly with no stains – great for unexpected kitchen spills! The creative Janet from The Empty Nest used the Indian Floral Wall Stencil to create hers.
Decorology created a small kitchen with extra large style with her stenciled walls! Using the Large Marrakesh Trellis Moroccan Stencil from the Allover Moroccan Stencils Collection, she used a gloss and matte sheen tone on tone effect in a deep navy hue.
