After a 4-year absence from leading painting retreats to Italy, Gary Lord, Melanie Royals, and Alison Wooley are pleased to announce an exclusive new and exciting decorative painting adventure to the Villa di Modollo in the Venice region of Italy.
This will be our 4th painting trip together that combines a unique educational experience with an exciting group decorative painting project that will allow us to leave a lasting legacy of our own art in the most “artistic” country in the world. View and print our Italy Trip Flyer.
Our classroom and Venetian painting project site will be the Villa di Modolo. Located in the heart of Dolomites Mountains a few kilometres from Belluno, the Villa is classic Italian architectural delight built in the XVII century by the Miari Family, named Counts by the Emperor Sigismondo in 1412. The Miari-Fulcis family has welcomed us to their amazing historic family properties for our last three trips (in Florence and Umbria) and we are honored with the opportunity to create new decorative finishes and patterns that will blend with the existing artistry that graces the many rooms of this centuries-old site.
We will be renovating a Grand Hall with painted and patterned decoration on the walls, trim, and ceiling. Our finishes will include a large-scale damask pattern in lime paints inspired by fabric from one of the most famous silk factories in Venice, faux marbling of the moldings, striping work, and an intricate ceiling done with custom Modello® stencils.
We invite you to join us on this buonissimo artistic journey! Keep reading for our complete itinerary and registration information or print our Italy Trip Flyer.
